The pair were travelling down Bolton Street in Eltham when their car smashed into a police vehicle, causing it to spin around before becoming wedged on some rocks.
Neither of the two officers were injured in the crash, but the police car sustained extensive damage.
The offending vehicle, which has no number plates, has not yet been located and the bandits are still on the run.
