Dog rushes to greet sailor returning from deployment

  • Sydney-based sailor Jimmy Meredith returned home to his dog Duke in the video
  • Duke, a border collie, enthusiastically bounded into his arms in the driveway
  • Meredith had been on deployment for two months and had just returned home
  • His girlfriend Yasmin Lindenberg filmed their touching reunion

The long wait was worth it for a sailor and the dog eagerly awaiting his ‘daddy’s’ return home.

In this video, which was shot in Australia, a dog named Duke can be seen camping out by the front window of his house, sedately watching cars pass by.

That is until he sees a grey truck drive up and into the driveway.

Inside was his owner, Jimmy Meredith, who had just returned from a two-month deployment.

Their heart-warming reunion in the driveway was filmed by Meredith’s girlfriend Yasmin Lindenberg.

This is the heartwarming moment a border collie called Duke rushed into his owner’s arms after he returned home to Sydney, Australia, after a two-month deployment

His scramble is accompanied by the high-pitched cooing of the woman behind the camera, who repeatedly says to Duke, ‘Is that dad? You ready?’

Duke can barely contain his excitement as he waits for the woman to open the front and screen doors.

When she finally acquiesces to the pleading in his eyes — while she coos ‘Look, who’s this!’ — Duke vaults out of the door and bounds into his ‘daddy’s’ arms.

The sailor — sporting sunglasses, the lower half of his Australian Royal Navy uniform and a grey t-shirt — had preemptively crouched down with his arms spread wide open waiting for Duke.

After their two-and-a-half month separation while the sailor was deployed, both pet and owner alike clearly delighted in giving — or receiving — multiple hugs, belly and back rubs and lots of sloppy, enthusiastic face licks.
