Hornets star LaMelo Ball ‘suffers serious right ankle sprain and is expected to miss extended time, with Charlotte to take a cautious approach in bringing him back’

Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball suffered a ‘serious’ right ankle sprain and is expected to miss an extended period of time according to The Athletics’ Shams Charania.

Ball recently reinjured his right ankle that underwent surgery last season, but test determined he avoid suffering a fracture.

The team is expected to take a cautious approach with his eventual return.

Ball was initially diagnosed with a ‘right ankle strain’ after landing awkwardly after attempting a layup against the Orlando Magic.

The injury may have been compounded after Magic forward Paolo Banchero landed on Ball’s leg as the two became tangled up and fell to the ground following the attempted layup.
