A manhunt has been launched after burglars sprayed a ‘corrosive substance’ in a woman’s face before ransacking her home.

The 46-year-old was attacked by four men when she opened the door of her flat in Havant, Hampshire, at around midday.

The gang shoved their way through and stole cash before fleeing the scene and leaving their victim in agony.

She suffered cuts and bruises all over her body, but thankfully the spray did not have any long term effect.

Police today have launched an investigation to find the burglars and issued descriptions of two of the four.

A spokesman for Hampshire Police said: ‘One was white but looked tanned. He was around 5ft 4ins tall and of medium build with dark eyes.

He was clean shaven and had short, dark, bushy hair. He was wearing a dark jacket which was black at the front and brown colour on the arms and he spoke in a local Hampshire accent.

‘The second was white, around 5ft 9iins tall and of skinny build. He was clean shaven with grey/blue eyes and a skinny face. He was wearing a grey hoodie with the hood up.’
