The Project guest star Dave Thornton was not impressed by an offhand joke Sunrise presenter Natalie Barr made about her co-host Sam Mac earlier this week.
Sam Mac, 42, did a live chat with a knife thrower on the breakfast show while crossing to Nat, 55, who joked the performer should ‘stab’ Sam.
However Thornton, 44, failed to see the humour in Nat’s gag, and launched a scathing tirade against the presenter on Wednesday night’s episode of The Project.
‘Guys, I get it. It’s early, it’s live TV and sometimes you just say whatever comes to mind,’ the comedian began.
‘However, this Sam Mac interview with a knife thrower has made one thing clear. He may need a restraining order against Nat Barr.’

After playing footage of the moment, Thornton joked he had no idea that weather reporting was such a dangerous profession.
‘He’s a weatherman. Whether he’ll live or not, who knows how this is going to work out?’ he quipped.
Sam Mac shared his ‘near death experience’ on the breakfast show on Tuesday.
Earlier this week, weatherman Sam Mac (pictured), 42, live-chatted to a knife thrower on the air while cutting to Nat, 55, who joked that the performer should ‘stab’ Sam
Taking to his Instagram stories, Mac showed video of himself getting involved in a knife throwing act at Brisbane burlesque club Pink Flamingo during a Sunrise segment.
He stood against an upright wooden board while a man hurled a series of knives at the board around him, with the caption on the video reading ‘become a TV weatherman they said.’
‘Normally in television, the knives go in your back so this is a little bit unorthodox,’ the presenter nervously quipped before the weapons plunged into the wood around him.
Thornton, 44, however, failed to see the humour in Nat Barr’s (pictured) gag and launched a scathing tirade against the presenter on The Project
‘This is not a fun day at work,’ he said, as the performer continued to throw the knives, before revealing ‘I felt the wind of that one go past my eye!’
The breakfast show weatherman led a cheer after the performer finished the stunt.
The humorous presenter recently returned to screens after taking a month break from his role on the show to focus on full-time fatherhood.
He was in good spirits as he donned a Santa hat while he showed off his dance moves during a live segment from a Christmas dance party.
