During an appearance on Late Night in 2014, Biden told host Seth Meyers that he was acknowledging an unnamed senior senator who told him ahead of the speech: ‘Look, Joe. I know you and Barack are friends, but don’t stand up on every damn thing he says, okay?’
Biden said that noticed the same senator standing and applauding numerous times as Obama gave his speech.
‘And then I counted. Seventeen times this particular senator stood up in front of the president. So I went like this,’ he said, imitating his smile and point. ‘Talk about a suck-up.’
