Tiffiny Hall shares how to keep the Christmas weight off

She’s the super fit trainer that helped contestants on The Biggest Loser drop excess body weight through long hours of exercise and healthy eating.

Now, new mother Tiffiny Hall has shared her top tips for keeping your body in shape over the festive season – undoubtedly the most difficult time for watching your weight.

It’s no secret that many of us pack on the extra kilograms during this period thanks to the extra eating and drinking we do during Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The Biggest Loser’s Tiffiny Hall (pictured) has revealed the foods you should avoid this Christmas to keep the weight off

But according to Tiffiny we shouldn’t be too strict on ourselves.

‘If you want to taste a little bit of everything on the Christmas table that’s fine by me but we get ourselves in trouble by overindulging or going back for seconds, or even thirds,’ she told FEMAIL.

‘Fill a quarter of your plate on proteins like fish, salmon, roasts, chicken and fill the rest with salads rather than the carby stuff like potatoes or bread,’ she explained.

‘Enjoy small portions of dessert if that’s your thing.’

Tiffiny also advises staying away from ‘danger foods and drinks’ such as gravy, soft drinks, chocolate advent calendars and especially candy canes.

‘Even if you love peppermint leave them to decorate the tree, as almost all commercially made candy canes contain zero peppermint and only artificial flavours,’ she said.

‘I’ve seen some pretty snazzy advent calendars that give you something adulty every day leading up to Christmas instead of gifting you calories. Buy your kids toy advent calendars and leave the chocolate overdose for Easter.’

When it comes to serving up Christmas ham for lunch or dinner, Tiffiny said to keep portions to a minimum.

‘It’s high in salt and will bloat you and cause water retention,’ she added.

She also warns against consuming too many appetisers or canapés during the party season.

‘It’s so easy to fill up on all the crackers and dips while slugging the prosecco – choose your appetisers wisely or you’ll be loading up too much before the main event,’ she said.

‘The biggest mistake you can make is rocking up to a party, tummy rumbling and eyes too big for your belly! Eat a healthy, satisfying meal before you go out, instead of going nuts on the finger food.’

Last month, the 33-year-old, who recently gave birth to son, Arnold, said she didn’t want to send an unhealthy message to other women by ‘bouncing back’ after the birth.

‘I think gosh, if you’re having a baby to have a bounce-back cover story or to use the baby for publicity, or anything like that, you’ve got to look at yourself,’ Tiffiny told Yahoo Be.

‘So when I see a bounce-back photo, I know what’s gone into it and I’m not prepared to sacrifice the sacred time of the newborn bubble with my husband and my firstborn child to be slogging it out.’
