Naomi Watts has her hands full as she films scenes for new film The Friend in New York with huge Great Dane called Bing

Naomi Watts looked like she had her hands full as she walked a huge Great Dane called Bing on the set of her new film The Friend on Friday.

The actress, 55, wrapped up warm in an olive green beanie, with her hair loose underneath and a long burnt orange coat as she filmed with the pooch.

Naomi wore wide-legged blue trousers, chunky brown boots and a pale orange jumper over a colourful collared shirt.

Naomi walked around the Big Apple with Harlequin-patterned Bing but looked like she was struggling to keep on her feet due to the sheer size of the dog.

The Hollywood star had actually debuted Bing on her Instagram back in January but did not tell her almost two million followers that he was linked to her new project.

The two-time Oscar nominee was first seen on set with Bing early on in February.

She also spoke about him a little prior to that on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in late January.

‘I have a dog that is six pounds,’ she told Jimmy. ‘This dog is 150 pounds I believe. And it’s my co-star. He really is gigantic.’

She gushed about the opportunity to play opposite an animal in a leading role on the movie and said Bing is ‘very lovable’.

‘It’s not often that a dog has the starring role,’ she said. ‘He’s a special dog. Very lovable. He’s a good dog.’

She also opened up about what it takes to act alongside a dog and explained they work with a trainer very frequently while shooting.

Naomi noted that Bing was much bigger than her rescue dog Izzy, a tiny Cairn Terrier and Poodle mix.

As production is still ongoing, a release date for The Friend has not yet been announced.

The film follows a writer (Naomi), who adopts her late mentor’s heartbroken Great Dane named Apollo (Bing), and the grief she shares with the precious pet as they both mourn their recent loss.

It is directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel and Naomi and Bing are the only cast members that have been announced.
