Dana White has revealed that Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill will face-off in the main event of UFC 300 in Las Vegas in April.

The UFC president released the news in the aftermath of UFC 298 in Anaheim, which saw Ilia Topuria shock Alexander Volkanovski to win the Featherweight Championship in California.

Topuria dethroned the featherweight champion with a savage knockout, also taking the metaphorical crown as pound-for-pound king of the sport.

On the back of another successful event, the build to the landmark UFC 300 continued with a bombshell main event revealed by White on social media, which will see the Brazilian defend his title against former champion Hill.

Hill was forced to vacate his title in 2023 due to injury, and he will now be looking to pick up where he left off on April 13.

Hill won the belt in January 2023, defeating Glover Teixeira for the vacant belt via unanimous decision, landing 232 strikes – the most-ever in a UFC light-heavyweight fight.

In doing so, he became the first fighter from Dana White’s Contender Series to win a UFC Championship in doing so, also winning the Fight of the Night award for the bout.

On July 14, however, without defending the belt once, the 32-year-old announced  that he had ruptured his Achilles tendon playing basketball during UFC International Fight Week and would have to vacate the title.

The 32-year-old will now get the chance to win it back, however, when he faces Pereira in what will be the champion’s first defence of his current title.

A number of other fights on the card have also been confirmed, with Zhang Weili set to defend her women’s strawweight title against Yan Xiaonan and Max Holloway to challenge for Justin Gaethje’s Lightweight title.

Charles Oliveira will also take on Arman Tsarukyan in the same division, while Jiri Prochazka, the man Pereira beat for his title, will look to bounce back from defeat when he faces Aleksandar Rakic.
