Nelly Bay, Magnetic Island: Toddler fights for life after near drowning in a swimming pool

A toddler is fighting for life in hospital after the child nearly drowned in a swimming pool at home. 

The boy was in the pool at a property in Nelly Bay on Magnetic Island, located off the Queensland coast, when he struck trouble around 6.30pm on Tuesday. 

Paramedics rushed to the scene following reports the boy was having difficulties breathing.

The toddler was taken to Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition. 

A Queensland Health spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the boy is still in a critical condition. 

Daily Mail has contacted Queensland Police for comment.
