Formula One fans have been left baffled by a viral clip showing Valterri Bottas’ mechinical failure at Turn 11.
This comes as Max Verstappen powered to yet another dominant win in Sunday’s Chinese Grand Prix.
He emerged unscathed from two safety car periods to secure his 38th win from the last 49 staged in Formula One on his unstoppable march towards a fourth straight championship.
However, a moment during Sunday’s Grand Prix has taken the headlines as fans couldn’t believe a clip that went viral of Bottas.
The F1 driver pulled over at Turn 11 before removing his wheel as his fellow racers continued on the track in front of him.

Bottas was forced to retire with engine failure, prompting a safety car at the Chinese Grand Prix.
On lap 21, Valtteri Bottas broke down. And as the marshals struggled to shift Bottas’ stricken Stake, the VSC was upgraded to a full safety car.
Pulling over to the corner, Bottas stopped with smoke coming out of the rear of the car.
‘Engine is gone, engine gone,’ he told his team.
The F1 star got out of his car and began to remove his steering wheel as his fellow F1 drivers drove past him.
He was then driven off on the back of a motorcycle.
Taking to social media, fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
‘Bottas having to constantly glance back as he removes his wheel in case someone locks up and yeets him from the track is a bit terrifying,’ one wrote.
Another questioed: ‘What is this?
‘Why we introduced Virtual Safety Car after Jules Bianchi death, FIA?
‘Bottas literally looking on racing cars while he putting the steering wheel back, as required by the rules…’
Another spectator labelled the incident as a ‘disgrace’.
He said: ‘Letting the cars race last Bottas as he’s STANDING to the side of the track with no VSC called for a lap was a disgrace.’
A final F1 fan questioned the decision: ‘Bottas literally standing out of his car…
