Sam McClymont has opened up about the devastating moment she was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer at the age of 38.
The Getaway host revealed she was initially given the all-clear last year after finding a lump in her right breast.
‘I decided to go to see the specialist anyway and see what my options were,’ she told Woman’s Day.
Sam said she underwent further tests and didn’t hear back from her doctor so she returned to her next appointment three weeks later.
But she was left shocked when the specialist informed her she had triple negative breast cancer, the most aggressive form.

‘I was instantly crying. It was a shock. He was telling me about all the treatments, but I couldn’t believe it,’ Sam recalled.
‘I was bawling when I called [her husband] Ben and my younger sister Mollie. Then she was crying. Nobody was expecting this.’
She admitted it was also difficult explaining her diagnosis to her two young boys, Wilder, six, and Ari, five.
She said her boys also helped her shave her hair off but she ‘couldn’t be emotional when she looked in the mirror as they were with her’.

Sam has also taken a step back from work as she is currently not able to travel with her TV show Getaway.
She has completed 12 of her 16 rounds of chemo and will then be having surgery and radiation.
Triple negative breast cancer is considered life threatening because its aggressive and accelerates the rate at which the cancer can grow and spread.
Common symptoms include breast lumps, swelling, breast or nipple pain, dimpled skin and nipple discharge.
