Marvel star Karen Gillan gives her predictions on Scotland’s crucial Euro 2024 tie with Switzerland

Scottish actress Karen Gillan has weighed in on how she sees Scotland’s second group game at Euro 2024 going.

Scotland face Switzerland at 8pm in Cologne, and a win is a must if Steve Clarke’s men want to progress further in the competition.

A defeat at the hands of the Swiss would leave them having to pull off a miracle in their final Group A game and for the other ties to go in their favour.

Steve Clarke men are professionals and should be able to shake their nightmare start to the tournament following the 5-1 thrashing against Germany.

The team aren’t the only people who believe Scotland still have more to offer. Hollywood and Iverness-born actress Karen Gillan believes Scotland are just pulling the wool over peoples eyes and they can win tonight.

Gillan who is best known for her leading roles in some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters including The Avengers and Jumanji voiced her support for Scotland on Virgin Radio’s The Chris Evans Breakfast Show.

Speaking on the show, Gillan made a joke following the 5-1 Germany result.  

She said: “Come on Scotland! We can do this!

“We’ve lulled them into a false sense of security. It’s part of the game plan, it’s part of the plot.”

The 36-year-old admitted that she didn’t tune in to watch Scotland’s opening game but quickly got wrapped up in the Euro buzz after the full-time whistle had been blown, and will be watching their second game against Switzerland.

‘I’m not a massive football fan, but I did just have a look online to see how we were doing, and saw a meme that was like ‘Scotland before the Euros’, and it was like a Braveheart meme like ‘Freedom!’ And then afterwards it was a meme from Trainspotting.’

When asked if she would be watching tonight Gillan said:

‘You know what? I think I will actually because I think this is the time that we’re going to deliver.’
