Cabramatta Road, Sydney drive-by shooting: Police launch urgent search for gunman

Police are hunting a gunman after he opened fire on a home with nine people including four children inside.

Emergency services rushed to a home on Cabramatta Road in Cabramatta, Sydney’s south west, shortly before 11.45pm following reports the home was peppered with bullets. 

The gunman, who was inside a white Toyota Corolla which mounted the footpath outside the home, opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Five adults and four children who were inside the home escaped uninjured.

Police launched an investigation into the incident and declared the home a crime scene. 

A white Corolla was later found on fire in the neighbouring suburb of Mt Pritchard.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, however the vehicle was destroyed.

Investigators confirmed the Corolla was the same vehicle involved in the shooting and is subject to a forensic examination. 

Police have urged anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
