The parents of a 16-month-old toddler have been left devastated after the boy died during the night of unexplained causes earlier this month.
Ben Smith and Drew La Reservee from Rockingham south of Perth, Western Australia found their son Micah unresponsive on the morning of Friday, June 14.
‘My baby, there is nothing in the world that could ever of prepared Daddy and I for this. We love you so deeply. Forever. We miss you so much. Fly high up there and watch over us,’ Ms La Reservee shared last week.
Family friend Lily Hewson has organised a fundraiser to cover funeral expenses and so the shattered couple can take time off work to process the tragedy.
‘Micah passed away unexpectedly overnight … They don’t have a cause yet [they are] waiting for the report from the coroner,’ Ms Hewson told the Sound Telegraph.
‘It is with heavy hearts that we come to you today. Ben and Drew have recently experienced an unimaginable tragedy — unexpectedly losing their beloved Micah,’ the fundraiser read.
‘As their close friends, we want to rally around them during this incredibly difficult time and do whatever we can to help. Micah was such a happy, loving little boy who brought so much joy and hope.’
Ms La Reservee thanked those who have shared their condolences.
‘We are so overwhelmed by the amount of love and support we have received, we truly can’t thank everyone enough,’ she told the Sound Telegraph.
