Kate Ritchie announces shock career move as she’s set to take on the role of a lifetime

Nova radio star Kate Ritchie is heading back to the small screen.

The 45-year-old former Home and Away actress is set to star in new ABC reality series, The Role Of A Lifetime.

Hosted by Amanda Keller, the five-part series explores the difficulties of parenting in today’s fast-paced world.

TV Tonight reports that mother-of-one Kate will star alongside comedian Nazeem Hussain in the show which uses real-life scenarios to offer mums and dads advice on the best way to navigate the challenges of parenting.

Melbourne-born comedian and actor Nazeem, 39, is best known for his Netflix comedy special, Nazeem Hussain: Public Frenemy.

According to the official announcement from producers Dreamchaser, the aim of the series is to help guide parents and carers in raising their children so they can be ‘happy and resilient’.

Also featured in the cast will be Parental As Anything podcast creator and author Maggie Dent who will be on hand to offer parenting advice.

Offering a unique spin on a reality show format, The Role Of A Lifetime will blend scripted comedy and factual content.

‘We’re so excited to announce our very own Kate Ritchie is starring in the brand new series ‘The Role Of A Lifetime’ set to air on ABC,’ the star’s co-hosts, Ryan Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli, announced on their official social media on Thursday.

Kate shares a daughter Mae, nine, with her ex-husband Stuart Webb.

The announcement comes just months after it was reported that Kate had called time on her relationship with boyfriend Chevy Black.

A radio insider told Daily Mail Australia in November the Nova FM radio host had split with Chevy nine months after they went Instagram official.

The pair, who would often put on on public displays of affection while out and about in Coogee, had not been spotted together for months.

An insider also told New Idea magazine at the time there was a very telling clue their relationship is over.

‘It seems like now he doesn’t have any reason to keep his life hidden,’ the source told the magazine.

‘Until recently, Chevy preferred to keep his life under wraps, with his social media set to private. He has now changed to a public Instagram profile,’ they added.

Kate also fuelled breakup rumours by sharing a reflective post to Instagram which captured her living her best life with a girlfriend, and no mention of Chevy.

The Role Of A Lifetime is expected to screen on the ABC in 2025.
