Tech specs: Facebook-owner Meta and Ray-ban have worked together when they launched Meta smart glasses
Meta is in talks to buy a £3.8billion stake in Ray-Ban maker Essilor Luxottica as the tech giant continues to push its virtual reality sunglasses.
The owner of Facebook has been considering a holding of as much as 5 per cent in the £73billion Franco-Italian group to deepen its partnership with the world’s biggest eyewear company.
The pair have worked together for the last three years when they launched Meta smart glasses, which cost around £300 and allow users to take photos and videos, listen to music, make calls and livestream to Facebook and Instagram.
Meta has invested heavily in the metaverse, a version of the internet giving access to a virtual reality through headsets, and is focusing on growing the virtual reality and metaverse arm.
