Wearing a pair of the expensive Air Jordan Concords, the fashion-conscious boyfriend carefully took off the black and white trainer before getting down on one knee.
In a video posted to Twitter and recorded by the man’s friends, he can be seen placing his shoe to one side as his partner laughs.
He then appears to ask his girlfriend, dressed in a pink t-shirt and jeans, to marry him, before she offers her hand.
The clip was shared to the social networking site where it went viral, being shared 164,000 times in two days.
Users online were quick to praise the man’s brilliance for ensuring his sneakers were kept fresh.
