An autopsy revealed the 27-year-old died of blood loss and was covered in scars that were weeks and months old, pointing to a pattern of violence.
Her injuries included a gouged-out right eye and two amputated fingers.
Her body remained unidentified for three weeks as police appealed to the public for information.

Police later charged her husband with murder.
At a subsequent court hearing, police said they believed the woman’s objection to her husband’s jihadist interest led to her murder.
Police also said the couple’s three children, aged two, four and six at the time, witnessed their mother’s murder.
