There is a lot riding on Katy Perry right now as she gears up to put on a show-stopping performance at the MTV VMAs tonight, to help boost her struggling pop career.
But she was off to a shaky start on Wednesday, as the Roar singer seemed nervous in rehearsals as a stunt she was practicing appeared to go wrong, prompting her to audible shriek, just hours before she is set to hit the stage.
The Grammy winner, 39, took to social media share a clip of herself screaming and getting almost hit in the face by prop butterflies while trying to practice her performance.
She was seen looking terrified and laughing while wearing metallic wings over her shoulders, referencing her 147 era (the title of her upcoming album.)
‘AAAGGGHHHHH @vmas TONIGHT AGGGHHHHHHH,’ she penned in the caption, poking fun at her shrieks in the clip.
It was announced in mid-August that the I Kissed a Girl singer would be preforming live at the awards show on Wednesday evening.

‘Katy is a musical powerhouse and true pop culture icon,’ said Bruce Gillmer, chief content officer of music at Paramount+ and president of music, music talent, programming and events at Paramount in a statement, per AP.
‘With her game changing creative vision, she has become a global phenomenon and taken over the world’s biggest stages,’ he added.
Although she has not confirmed which songs from her discography she will preform, Billboard reported that she will take a ‘career-spanning medley’ to the stage.
And she is just days away from dropping her hotly anticipated seventh studio album, 143.
The record will include some of her already released singles, Woman’s World and Lifetimes, and is slated to release on September 20.

Both songs flopped on the charts, with the singer reportedly ‘pointing the fingers at everyone but herself,’ DailyMail.com exclusively revealed.
‘Katy is freaking out right now because she is very aware of the feedback that Woman’s World is getting,’ a source told DailyMail.com.
Adding: ‘She is pointing the fingers at everyone but herself, but it is her own fault.’
