Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo shocked fans when they showed off their massive new tattoos on Thursday, but all was not at it seemed.
The Today show co-hosts gave their fans a look at themselves with huge inkings during a segment live on the Channel Nine breakfast show.
Sarah, 37, also took to Instagram to share the picture of herself sporting a huge bird across one shoulder and her chest in a dramatic new look, sending her fans wild.
The tattoo also featured Collingwood Football Club’s logo, referencing the fact Sarah and her family are longtime supporters of the Magpies.
Karl, 50, also sported a similarly huge tattoo as he was seen with a bright red lion inking down one of his arms in an unexpected new look.
However, all was not as it seemed as the pictures were mock-ups to promote a Melbourne bottle shop giving out free tattoos to AFL fans for one-day only.
But it didn’t stop Sarah from joking about getting a huge inking in real life, as she and Karl were both left in stitches over the mock-up snaps live on air.
As the picture of Sarah flashed up on screen, Karl quipped: ‘Sarah has never looked so attractive.’

‘Far out, I’m even turning myself on there,’ Sarah then joked.
‘No, but after seeing that I might just get a big magpie across my chest, maybe on my face as well, and I might just knock out some teeth so I really fit in.’
After sharing the snap to social media, her 44,000 followers were all quick to share their shock, with many being left in stitches by her unlikely new style.
Taking to the comments section, one wrote: ‘Not the best tattoo,’ while another said: ‘Gruesome.’
A third joked: ‘VERY subtle and understated!!!’ and a fourth quipped: ‘That’s a winner,’ before a fifth said: ‘Every girl is one trip to Bali away from getting a tattoo.’
Other fans pointed out that at least she hadn’t got a real tattoo live on air like The Morning Show’s Larry Emdur, who recently made good on his vow to get his fellow Logies’ nominees names inked on his backside after winning the Gold Logie.
‘At least it’s not on yr ass like Larry having a Logies Bender,’ one fan remarked.
Poking fun at the mock-up, Sarah captioned her post: ‘New ink, who dis? When @thetodayshow cooks up a segment, they really commit.’
The tattoo mock-up shots came to promote Thirsty Camel bottle shop in Fairfield giving out free footy-themed tattoos to fans from 11am-3pm on Thursday.
During a segment on The Today Show, brave AFL fan Josh Gilby was shown getting a Lions inking live on air as he took the local venue up on their unique offer.
