Sydney’s Middle Eastern crime gangs unique characteristic

Sydney’s Middle Eastern Crime gangs are as unique as they are dangerous, according to an ex-cop who has revealed they are very good at holding grudges.

According to retired assistant commissioner Ken ‘Slasher’ McKay the ‘mostly Lebanese’ crime gangs pass their grudges on, generation after generation.

This is what makes them unique – with most gangs grudges stop when a new generation comes through, The Daily Telegraph reports.

‘Both in the Christian and Islamic Middle Eastern families, they hold onto old grudges and pass them down through generations so generational change has no impact,’ he said

‘The younger brothers and the cousins take over,’ he said.

Most other gangs are able to be broken up as people die or get locked up.

McKay’s frank appraisal of the gangs, which centre around Greenacre and Bankstown in the city’s west, comes as the Middle Eastern organised crime squad, or MEOCS, continue to shut down crime in the area.

On Thursday the squad busted an alleged $60,000 per day drug ring officers believe was being run by a member of one of the crime families.
