Aside from being part of the judging threesome on The Block, Darren Palmer is also a member of another trio off-screen.
The interior designer, 46, helps his husband Olivier Duvillard raise his teenage son Hugo, 15.
Speaking to Woman’s Day, Darren said family had always been high on his list of priorities.
‘Nothing is more important than my family,’ he told the publication.
Darren, who married Olivier 13 years ago, has been a part of Hugo’s life since he was a one year old.
‘He’s a fine young man,’ Darren added about Hugo who Olivier, 51, welcomed with a female couple in 2009.
Darren added that while he and Olivier share custody of Hugo, the teenager was very much an integral part of the family unit.
‘We have our son with us just less than half the time,’ Darren explained.

‘We use out time with him to do fun, family stuff that builds good memories and we use our time without him to achieve our goals in work and life.’
While he said the pair had struck a good parenting ‘balance’ they would happily take on Hugo full time.
”It’s a good balance, but we would happily spend all of our time together as a family, too,’ he explained.
While Darren and Olivier have kept Hugo away from the spotlight in the past, they have recently been sharing more about their home life on social media.

Olivier took to Instagram on Father’s Day to share some snaps of a celebratory outing he went on with Darren and Hugo.
They looked to be having a ball when they attended the History of House Show featuring Groove Terminator and The Soweto Gospel Choir in Sydney.
‘Next level Father’s Day having a blast with our #1 son and my other #1,’ Olivier captioned the sweet post.
Darren showed The Block contestants how it’s done last month when he listed his $2.98million renovated Bondi Beach home for sale.
The interior designer snapped the lavish property up with Olivier 2015 and got stuck into renovations.
Sitting just 400m from Australia’s most renowned beach, the four-bedroom, four-bathroom house has undergone many transformations, reported Domain.
The Block star said working on his own home made him very empathetic for the contestants he judged on the renovation competition.
‘It made me very compassionate and empathetic, because I was also going through it. I would… travel to Victoria to film, and then come back to a job site,’ he said.
