Doubts about St Kilda veteran Brad Crouch’s future in the AFL are growing after a bizarre message said the midfielder has already found himself a new job in what fans are calling ‘the best retirement announcement ever’.
The 30-year-old, who only played one top-level match in the 2024 season, has been battling an ongoing knee injury that could end his 161-game career.
While there has been no official announcement from St Kilda, Crouch appears to have found a new job – with the company concerned announcing his retirement in a statement confirming his recruitment.
‘We are excited to welcome Brad Crouch to the Melbourne North West Industrial & Logistics team in the role of Executive,’ reads the website of investment management company Colliers, where the Saints player is being welcomed as a new executive.
‘Having enjoyed a stellar career playing AFL for the Adelaide and St Kilda Football Clubs, Brad has always had a keen interest in property currently dedicating some of his free time to broadening his skills in the commercial property sector in readiness for his new role.
‘Brad is a valuable addition to Industrial & Logistics and we look forward to welcoming him to the North West Team.’

‘I’m no contract expert, but it would be wild if you can asked to be paid out for a job when you’ve already started a new gig?’ replied another.
However, former Geelong player turned broadcaster Josh Jenkins, disputed the news about Crouch retiring, posting: ‘Brad Crouch far from done at AFL level. Has begun work for the summer period only. Working away to resume AFL footy.’
On Tuesday, 7News reporter Mitch Cleary re-posted the company’s announcement as he wrote that Crouch has probably retired from the sport.
‘Brad Crouch has likely played his last AFL game,’ Cleary posted to X.
‘Has been dealing with a degenerative knee injury and understand talks are ongoing with the Saints about a potential payout on his 2025 contract.’
‘Also appears he’s started a new job.’
Crouch debuted for Adelaide in 2013 and went on to play 95 games for the Crows, kicking 34 goals before switching to St Kilda for the 2021 season.
He racked up 66 games and 22 majors for the Saints, where he won the Ian Steward Medal in 2022.
