Country star Lainey Wilson’s classy response after fan spits on her while she’s playing on stage

Country star Lainey Wilson has revealed the classy way she reacted after a music fan spit on her while at her concert. 

The Heart Like A Truck hitmaker, 32, revealed that while she was performing, someone in the crowd fired off some saliva at her.  

While speaking to Taste of Country, Lainey – who recently suffered from a fashion faux pas on stage – admitted that she wanted to storm off stage and ‘find whoever it was.’

However, the country icon stayed true to her roots and opted to take the high road. 

Instead of drawing attention to the droplet that landed on her chest, she continued singing and showed the troll that she wasn’t going to let the hate derail her. 

She noted that although she didn’t do anything about it, she spent the remainder of the evening questioning why someone would buy tickets to her show to then spit on her.

‘Last year when we were on our headlining tour, somebody spit on me, on stage,’ Lainey told the country music publication.

‘I thought about getting down there and finding whoever it was, but I didn’t. I kept rolling.’ 

And while her restrained response may have people thinking the cruel act didn’t get to her, she admitted that she spent the remainder of the show pondering why someone would do such a thing. 

She added: ‘First of all, I was like, “Why in the world would you buy a ticket and then go spit on somebody?” 

‘There’s some mean people in the world. Also, they could have just been drunk and just being silly.’

Lainey then tried to lighten the mood by recalling the moment she saw the spit droplet coming at her in what seemed to be slow motion. 

‘It was weird, I saw it like coming through the air. It was like I made eye contact with the spit and it just lands on me and I’m just like, (singing) “I got a heart like a truck.” That’s how I felt,’ the country star said.

In July, Lainey – who has been nominated as the 2024 CMA Entertainer of The Year – suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction while performing. 

The star’s pants split and she was left red-faced while singing as she told fans they were about to ‘get a real show.’ 

‘There’s a first time for everything and I’m glad it was y’all that I split my pants wide open in front of,’ she said.

The Watermelon Moonshine hitmaker was initially unaware of her pants split until she was notified by her team.

Lainey’s ongoing Country’s Cool Again Tour, which began in late May this year, will continue on in North America through December.
