Troye Sivan’s perfect response to outrageous ‘homophobic’ claims about his behaviour on his Sweat tour with Charli XCX

Troye Sivan has branded claims he is only on tour with Charli XCX to meet people on Grindr as ‘genuinely homophobic’.

The One Of Your Girls singer, 29, pulled no punches as he responded to a since-deleted ‘blind item’ that was picked up by TikTok account Celebritea Blinds.

It alleged that Troye’s co-headlining North American Sweat tour with Charli XCX was experiencing lacklustre ticket sales.

It also went on to claim Troye didn’t care about ticket sales and was only interested in hooking up with men via the gay dating app Grindr.

‘His label doesn’t contribute at all to his tour so he doesn’t really care about sales,’ the blind item claimed.

‘He is just happy to be on the road and hitting Grindr at every stop.’

A clearly annoyed Troye took to TikTok to respond to the claims.

‘Straight people are getting way too comfortable,’ he said in the short rebuttal video.

‘I released an album. I am touring the album with Charli XCX.

‘We are playing 22 shows across the country that are 95 per cent sold out by the way. the only city that we’re flopping in is Nashville, and it’s at 78 per cent.’

Troye added that he didn’t need an app to cultivate relationships.

‘To say that I am touring the country to go on Grindr at every stop, like, that’s genuinely homophobic. It’s a genuine stereotype,’ he said.

‘Don’t sex shame me. I don’t need to travel the country to get laid. I can get laid wherever I want. I can get laid in LA.’

In his sign off, he reiterated that tickets were actually selling for the 22-date tour.

‘I’m going on tour because I released an album and people are buying tickets to see the show, so f**k you,’ he said.

To coincide with the tour, Charli XCX this week dropped a new remixed version of her BRAT album track, Talk Talk, featuring Troye.

The pair are set to perform at several arenas across North America, including New York City’s Madison Square Garden on September 23 and L.A.’s Kia Forum on October 15.

While the Sweat tour won’t be heading Down Under, Troye will be returning home in November for his first Australian headlining tour in five years.

He will kick off his Something To Give Each Other tour in Perth on Sunday 17 November, before heading to Adelaide on Tuesday, November 19.

He will then jet to Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl for a gig on Thursday, November 21, before taking a few days off before his Brisbane stint at Riverstage on Tuesday, November 26.
