Skye Wheatley’s ‘scary’ face after fox eye lift surgery is losing her TV work as she is told she can’t host Love Island because of her drastically changed appearance

An Australian influencer once known for her ‘girl next door’ looks has lost out on a lucrative TV-hosting gig at Channel Nine because of her ‘addiction’ to plastic surgery.

Skye Wheatley, who rose to fame on Big Brother in 2014 and went on to become one of Australia’s first ‘Instagram stars’, recently returned from Turkey where she underwent a fox eye lift, liposuction, a temporal lift and a blepharoplasty.

These procedures were just the latest in a series of operations the 30-year-old has undergone over the last decade in her quest to achieve the ‘perfect’ appearance.

Upon her return to Queensland, Wheatley was left devastated when Nine contacted her to say the network no longer required her services as a host of Love Island.

Before her fateful trip to Turkey, she had been first in line to replace Sophie Monk as host. Monk is said to be leaving the dating show to focus on other projects at Nine.

‘There was an idea to add Sophie Monk into the new format of The Floor. The idea was floated that Skye could slip in and take over Love Island Australia,’ a source said.

‘Executives believed Skye could do a very similar job to Sophie.’

However, the insider said Nine ultimately decided to not work with Wheatley after she had drastically changed her appearance through cosmetic surgery.

‘This whole idea came crashing down as the network noticed [she] had drastically changed her look, which turned Nine off the idea to cast her.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Nine and Wheatley for comment.

Wheatley recently went to Turkey to visit a renowned cosmetic surgeon, who performed an eye surgery known as a fox eye lift on her.

She revealed on social media that in addition to the fox eye lift, she also got liposuction on her arms and inner thighs, a temporal lift and a blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery.

‘The problem with changing your appearance and even your hair colour is that your brand is often wrapped up in a look you are famous for,’ the source said.

‘I don’t think Nine was unconfident with her ability to host the show. I think it was just “the look” they were hiring her for that has changed.’

On Thursday, Wheatley was seen in public for the first time since her various surgeries. She posed up for a series of selfies next to her car while out and about on the Gold Coast with her five-year-old son Forest.

Several bruises from liposuction were visible around the top of her thighs.

The sighting came just days after Wheatley spoke about her procedures on social media, in response to followers claiming she has a ‘plastic surgery addiction’.

In a social media post, her face was still covered entirely with tape.

‘I can’t show my face yet it’s way too scary, but when I heal more I will show the process don’t worry,’ she told her fans last Thursday.

When pushed to film her face, she replied, ‘Nah, it’s horrific.’

The fox eye lift is touted as a ‘minimally invasive’ procedure that uses dissolvable threads to lift the eyebrow and elongate the outer eye area into an almond shape.

For years, people have been achieving the look using clever eyeliner, shadow makeup techniques and various tweezing methods to create a visual sweep upward to the corner of the eye.

‘I’m trusting the process,’ Wheatley said of her recovery.

In addition to the fox eye lift and liposuction, Wheatley also admitted she underwent a complementary temporal lift (fat transfer into the face to prevent the need for injectable dermal fillers) and a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).
