An Aussie Tesla owner has shared footage of an elderly man keying his electric vehicle and sought help from the public in tracking him down so he can request he foot the repair bill.
David Shannon shared the video online after the brazen vandal reportedly damaged his pride and joy at a Woolworths in Queanbeyan near Canberra on the NSW border on Thursday.
The footage showed the man keying the vehicle as he walked past before stopping on the footpath to inspect his handiwork
‘Is anyone familiar with this man? He keyed my car at Woolworths,’ Mr Shannon captioned the footage on a community Facebook page.
Some viewers were quick to assume he was parked in a disabled parking spot before Mr Shannon promptly shut that theory down.
‘To clarify, I’m not in a disabled park. The disabled parks are to the right, as the arrow on the sign indicates,’ he added.
‘This is not going to be a cheap fix and I’d love the opportunity to ask him nicely what drove him to do this.’
Mr Shannon told Daily Mail Australia the man is yet to be identified, leaving him to fork up to $3,000 of paint repairs.

He only had one possible explanation for why the man keyed his car, that he had a problem with EVs.
Many viewers encouraged Mr Shannon to share the footage with police.
‘This footage needs to be taken to the police and he needs to be held accountable and pay for the damage to the car,’ one wrote.
Another added: ‘Take to the police they should be able to find this man.’
A third wrote: ‘I wonder what his problem is? Why is he intentionally damaging cars like this? I hope he is held accountable and charged.’

A fourth wrote: ‘This man should be ashamed of himself and be accountable for his actions.’
Daily Mail Australia has contacted NSW Police for comment.
It comes after Brisbane couple Raymond and Barbara Edwards were charged with wilful damage and fined after they were caught on camera keying cars, including a Tesla at Brookside Shopping Centre last October.
They admitted to Daily Mail Australia earlier this year that they had let frustration get the better of them after they were ‘cut off’ and almost forced into a power pole by a white Tesla and white BMW 800m from the shops.
‘I regret our actions, but the thing is, courtesy has been thrown out the window and stupidity has been thrown in,’ Mr Edwards said.
Mr Edwards was ordered to pay $2443.61 in restitution for the damage caused to the Tesla and the BMW, while Mrs Edwards was ordered to pay the remaining $897.25 for Tesla repair work.
