Ryan Reynolds left a young fan battling cancer in tears as he surprised him at hospital last week.
The Deadpool star, 47, shocked Nash Coté, eight, as he walked into his hospital room at Boston children’s hospital – where Ottawa youngster Nash is undergoing treatment for rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare type of cancer.
Deadpool fan Nash – who is receiving a six week course of proton radiation – had decorated his radiation mask like a Deadpool mask – which caught the actor’s eye.
Nash’s mom – radio broadcaster Angie Poirier, sent Reynolds a photo of the mask on X – with the actor replying that he’d love to meet Nash in hospital.
An emotional video showed Reynolds entering the room and saying: ‘My name is Ryan Reynolds, you can’t escape. You can escape but I have some presents for you.

‘Can I give you a hug?’ – as a shocked Nash broke down in years.
Reynolds was shown Nash’s radiation mask which he dubbed ‘awesome’ and asked for a photo with as it’s a ‘first for me too.’
Giving Nash words of encouragement, he said: ‘It’s a lot for an eight-year-old kid to shoulder, I hope you know that.’
The pair even FaceTimed Deadpool co-star Hugh Jackman from the hospital room.
Reynolds wrote on X: ‘Wish every kid needing treatment got it here. And I wish every parent with a sick kid could put their kid in hands this capable. Nash, you’re the best. Love you, pal.’
Rhabdomyosarcoma is an aggressive and highly malignant form of cancer.
Sarcomas are cancers that develop in the connective tissues of the body, such as muscle, fat, nerves, blood vessels, bone and cartilage.
The face is a common place to find this type of cancer, as is the soft tissue in the bladder, arms and legs.
Rhabdomyosarcoma is more common in children and teenagers than in adults.

‘Fun fact: Ryan Reynolds and I have followed each other on Twitter for years.
‘Even cooler than that, is when I sent him a pic of Nash’s custom “Deadpool” radiation mask, he replied that he wanted to come meet him in Boston. We kept it a total surprise for Nash.
‘Ryan arrived with the coolest signed memorabilia, chatted with him for over an hour and they even FaceTimed Hugh Jackman!
‘He gave this visit Maximum Effort. Thank you endlessly Ryan, for this incredible memory we will all have forever!’

Reynolds is married to actress Blake Lively and the pair share four children.
