Leandro Trossard stands to be available for Arsenal’s next Premier League game against Leicester despite his red card in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

The forward was dismissed with a second yellow card eight minutes into first-half stoppage time after he fouled Bernardo Silva and hoofed the ball away.

It sparked flashbacks of Declan Rice’s sending-off earlier this season against Brighton after he nudged the ball away from Joel Veltman before a free-kick.

Trossard has been roundly criticised for his misdemeanour, with Arsenal legend Ian Wright slamming his ‘f***ing foolishness’ while Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher said as much in a more family-friendly analysis on Sky Sports.

However, Trossard told his team-mates in the dressing room that he did not hear referee Michael Oliver’s whistle for the restart, according to The Mirror.

Mikel Arteta blasted the ‘worrying’ trend of stars being sent off for delaying a restart in play but he should still be able to pick Trossard for their Leicester match at the Emirates on September 28.

That’s because Trossard’s ban, picked up via two bookings, only applies for one fixture in all competitions – and Arsenal’s next game is in the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners host League One outfit Bolton on Wednesday evening in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Ian Evatt’s side will be spared Trossard’s trickery for their first match against Arsenal in 12 years, their last encounter a 0-0 draw at the then-Reebok Arena in February 2012.

Arteta was fuming that Trossard was given his marching orders in his side’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday, where a 98th-minute John Stones tap-in denied his side three points.

But the target of his vexation was not Trossard himself, who received a round of hugs from coaches after trudging off.

‘It’s that obvious that it’s not necessary for me to comment. It’s the second time. I’m 1727168355 expecting 100 Premier League games to be played as 10 against 11, or 10 against nine. Let’s see,’ he said.

‘I think it is very obvious what people think of the red card. It is not my job to come here and judge what happened. My job is to survive in one of the most difficult environments there is in football for 55 minutes and try to get things done to survive.

‘It has already happened twice in five games which is very worrying to see in the best league.’
