Arsenal fans reckon the club have accidentally leaked an uplifting injury update ahead of Saturday’s Premier League showdown with Leicester City.
Mikel Arteta’s side are afflicted with multiple injury concerns, including to key players David Raya, Martin Odegaard, and Ben White.
It has formed a headache for the Spaniard and he has been forced to get creative, starting 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Porter in place of Raya in the 5-1 midweek demolition of Bolton.
Despite the piling medical concerns, Arsenal have started the season rosily on the pitch, having won three and drawn two of a challenging run of fixtures, and only being denied victory at Manchester City on Sunday after a 98th-minute John Stones equaliser.
Fans are trying to take an extra positive from a recent video that the Gunners posted from their London Colney training centre.
Arsenal fans believe the club have spilled an accidental injury update in a social media video
Takehiro Tomiyasu was filmed heading into the training ground, which some supporters took as a positive update
On Thursday Arsenal posted a clip of players arriving at training and among the chaps giving a fist bump to the camera operator was Takehiro Tomiyasu.
The full-back has not been able to enjoy a single minute of action this season after he picked up a knee injury in pre-season and without knowing how far along he is in his recovery, fans were gleeful to see him back.
‘Glad to see Tomiyasu is alive and well,’ one wrote on X.
‘Wait! Tell me Tomi is back in full training. Looks like another Dark Arts master is back and they are not ready,’ another said.
‘Is that Tomiyasu reporting to training?’ asked one.
Another felt Tomiyasu looked rather morose as he wandered inside. ‘A man in his thoughts. I hope mentally he’s coping well, being on the sidelines injured sucks.’
‘Tomi is back,’ one declared.
The Japanese star does not have an official return date but Arteta said at the time of his injury: ‘I think it will take weeks on that one, unfortunately, and poor Tomi because of everything that he does.
Arsenal have had a strong start to the season and almost escaped from Man City with a win
‘But he’s going to have to be patient and work through it because I think it’s going to take a few weeks.’
Alongside Tomiyasu, Mikel Merino, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Kieran Tierney have also had to sit out of the action.
