Four dead and one left fighting for life in horror crash south of Dubbo, NSW

Four people have died and one man has been left fighting for life in hospital after a horror crash southwest of Dubbo on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to the Newell Highway at 9.20pm to discover two cars had collided on the interstate road link – about 30km from the regional city.

Two men, believed to be in their 20s, and an older man and woman died at the scene at Tomingley, NSW Police confirmed on Saturday.

A fourth man, who was driving one of the vehicles, was taken to Dubbo Hospital with suspected leg injuries.

None of the victims have been identified. 

‘Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the crash,’ a NSW Police spokesman said.

‘A report will be prepared for the corner.’

The Newell Highway is closed in both directions between Dubbo and Tomingley, with motorists urged to take the Mitchell Highway near Tomingley Road instead.

Live Traffic NSW have advised the road will be closed for ‘some time’, and reminded drivers the diversions are not suitable for B-Triple and AB Triple heavy vehicles. 

The crash take the state’s road toll to 248 this year.

Up to 10,793 people have been seriously injured on NSW roads this year.
