Mia Plecic wedding marred as Melbourne bridal boutique that created bespoke wedding dress for influencer call her out for wearing a different gown on the day

Mia Plecic and partner Justin Borg have tied the knot in a stunning Italian wedding, but their happy day has been marred by controversy over her bridal gown.

The influencer, 32, shared images of the romantic day on the Amalfi Coast to Instagram on Tuesday, flaunting the floral embroidered dress she wore for her big day.

However, the mother-of-one was called out by Outspoken Podcast for allegedly bailing on a ‘contra-deal’ she struck-up with Melbourne boutique bridal store Champery Couture.

‘It’s believed Mia allegedly struck up a contra-deal with the boutique but never came to pick up the dress,’ host sisters Amy, Sophie and Kate Taeuber said.

Mia announced on June 1 that the Chapel Street bridal company had started working on her bridal gown, sharing a glimpse of the hand-beaded frock, but ‘didn’t specify if this was a gifted or paid partnership’.

Just a few months later, when Mia began posting about her luxury European holiday leading up to her wedding, Champery Couture unfollowed the Slick Hair co-founder on Instagram.

In August, the bridal company went on to share a video of a wedding gown, which featured a beaded corset and flowing ‘100% Italian silk’ skirts and looked similar to the dress Mia gave a sneak peek of months earlier.

Alongside the Instagram clip, Champery Couture revealed the gown had been ‘custom made for someone’ but was not used by said person.

Pictures of the gown designed by Champery Couture, seen by Daily Mail Australia, show it features an extravagant pearl and beaded bodice with a floating layered skirt.

Photographs shared to social media showed the gown Mia wore to her wedding, which features a plunging neckline and floral embroidery along the bust and chiffon skirts, and looks nothing like the gown she originally teased in June.

Champery Couture have confirmed on Instagram and to Daily Mail Australia that Mia was the influencer referenced in the post they made about the abandoned gown.

‘We have received inquiries regarding the situation involving Ms Plecic,’ a spokesperson began in a message alongside images of the dress the company designed for Mia.

‘Please note the gown worn [at Mia’s wedding] was NOT one of our gowns. We can confirm that we created a beautiful gown for Ms Plecic, which she approved at every stage.’

They went on to say Mia did not use the gown they designed for her wedding and added that they are in talks with their lawyers to address the ongoing issue with Mia.

‘Any funds recovered from the situation involving the gown will be donated to @bullyzero. We will be doing a photoshoot in this beautiful gown shortly,’ they added.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Mia for comment.

The Outspoken Podcast claimed the posts by Champery Couture and Mia pointed to a contra-deal, the exchange of services and goods without monetary compensation, gone wrong.

The turn of events left Champery Couture scrambling for an alternate buyer earlier this year.

In August, the company took to Instagram with a post asking followers if they had any ideas what to do with the dress which Mia allegedly decided not to wear on her wedding day.

‘We have our legal team on this next week but wanted to ask everyone their thoughts on how we should get rid of this gown.

‘We made this custom gown which is a one off design. Unfortunately, we have lost thousands… and we would like to recover funds for this dress…

‘It’s 100% Italian silk, approximately size 20 bust and hips and size 14 to 16 waist. Any funds we recover, we’d like to donate to charity. Any thoughts?’

The pair also brought along their seven-month-old son Matteo who they welcomed to the world on February 22.

‘Mr & Mrs Borg,’ Mia wrote next to a ring emoji alongside images on Instagram which saw the newlyweds relaxing on a romantic boat ride off the coast of Conca dei Marini, a small Italian town.

They had musicians play the harp, cello and violin live at the ceremony as well as an opera singer serenading guests at their reception.
