Chiefs reveal Rashee Rice injury update after WR was carted off following Patrick Mahomes collision

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has confirmed that Rashee Rice will miss Kansas City’s game against the Saints next week.

But the extent of the wide receiver’s knee injury remains unclear after he was carted off the field following a collision with Patrick Mahomes in Sunday’s win over the Chargers.

‘I don’t have a definite (diagnosis) right now,’ Reid said on Monday. ‘He’s not going to be available next week.’

According to reports on Sunday, Rice is feared to have suffered a season-ending torn ACL after the clash with his own quarterback.

Rice was taken off during the first quarter of the Chiefs’ 17-10 win over the Chargers Sunday.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was carted off the field against the Chargers

He was hit by Mahomes as the quarterback attempted to make a tackle after throwing an interception.

On just the Chiefs’ second possession of the divisional matchup at SoFi Stadium, Mahomes threw a pass which was picked by the Chargers’ Kristian Fulton.

As Fulton returned the interception, Rice stripped the ball but inadvertently collided with his quarterback.

On Sunday, Reid was asked if he knew the severity of Rice’s injury. ‘No, but it’s not good,’ the head coach said.

Reid confirmed that Rice was slated to undergo an MRI scan Monday amid reports the team fears he has torn his ACL.
