The Aussie winemakers behind the ‘beautiful tasting’ shiraz has made a ‘bold’ move with the release of a new creamy and luxurious drop.
Grant Burge Wines has launched the Buttery Chardonnay Ink at Dan Murphy’s for just $18.99 per bottle or $108.60 for a box of six.
The white wine has a ‘rich and velvety’ texture, crafted from ripe stone fruits – including peach and apricot.
The new blend has been described as having ‘beautifully balanced notes of toasted almonds, with smooth, creamy flavours of brioche and nectarine.
The buttery finish has a ‘refreshing acidity’, making it a versatile choice for pairing with dishes – including roasted chicken and creamy pastas.

The Grant Burge decadent wine delivers all the hallmarks of a classic buttery chardonnay, with a modern twist.
Buttery chardonnays rose to fame in the 80s. But a decade later, the classic variety fell out of fashion – after wine drinkers ‘grew tired of overly oaked and ‘butter bomb-style chardy’ at every restaurant, bar and bottle shop at the time.
After being cancelled in the 90s, buttery chardonnay has been revived with ‘more balance and less butter bomb’.
So what makes them ‘buttery?’
It’s a winemaking technique that involves a type of bacteria converting the wine’s malic acid – the tartness naturally present in grapes – into lactic acid.
The process basically converts harsh, tart acid into soft, creamy acid.
The aging time and type of barrell used for the chardonnay contributes to its degree of butteriness in both flavour and texture.

Back in July, Grant Burge released a sell-out limited edition of its popular Barossa Ink shiraz – with fans describing it as the ‘best red wine ever’.
More than a dozen customers gave the ‘beautiful tasting’ bottle a five-star review – with a near-perfect average rating of 4.1 out of 5.
‘She’s a beauty, best $15 I’ve spent,’ one said.
Another added: ‘I’m a big fan of this range of wine…. Great value for money. Rich, flavourful, plenty of fruit. Nice drop for this price point.’
‘It’s like drinking velvet. It has a beautiful, soft flavour; I think a duck dish would be perfect with it. A pork fillet with soft, sweet, and orange flavours would also be a great match,’ one shared.
