Sydney north shore residents baffled by ‘dramatic’ note left on a car windshield

A furious rant left on a car’s windshield wiper has left an affluent neighbourhood concerned and puzzled by the mysterious ‘unhinged’ spray.

The 30-word tirade typed in capital letters attached to a windscreen wiper was shared on the Crows Nest St Ives Community Facebook page, a group for residents living on Sydney’s north shore.

‘Thank you for letting me know which kind of person you would have been during Nazi Germany or USSR,’ the note reads.

‘It’s always good to know your neighboors (sic).

‘Have a great day.’

Shocked residents were stunned by the level of hatred in the message.

‘This is truly unhinged,’ one wrote.

Another wrote: ‘Wow, psychos everywhere.’

This note left under a car’s windscreen wiper left members of a local Facebook group concerned and puzzled

A third commented: ‘That’s horrendous – it says more about the person who wrote the note than the owner of the car.’

‘No words. What a lunatic,’ was another reaction.

The reason for the note remains unknown.

Many called for the note’s author ‘chill out’.

‘Someone will give themselves high blood pressure and eventually a heart episode,’ one local wrote.

Others questioned the appropriateness of the historical analogies to murderous dictatorships.

‘What’s the rule about losing an argument if you’re first to mention Hitler or the Nazis?’ a person asked before adding it was ‘Godwin’s law’.

Some took the author to task on thier spelling and grammar mistakes.

‘What kind of person makes an effort to print out long notes written in capitals, but does not correct the spelling of ‘neighboors’,’ one noted.

Another added: ‘I don’t want to jump to conclusions … but it seems someone can’t spell and has poor grammar skills.’

Some were just curious as to what offence prompted such an outburst.

‘What did you doooooo?’ one asked.
