How footy star Brian To’o will shock his teammates with a gross act just before the NRL grand final

  • Penrith winger will be a key player in the decider
  • 26-year-old has a very unhealthy pre-game habit

While most NRL stars take their diets very seriously to stay in top shape, Penrith star Brian To’o is preparing to eat a pre-grand final meal that would give his club nutritionist a heart attack.

The Panthers winger is known for his love of junk food and soft drink and he won’t be making any exceptions on Sunday just because there’s a premiership on the line as he tackles Melbourne in the NRL grand final.

To’o is planning to have a breakfast consisting of a large bowl of chips with aioli, two breakfast burgers and a staggering six Coke Zeros – and his teammates will be left shaking their heads.

However, the man himself can’t see what the problem is.

‘People always get weirded out with my breakfast,’ he told News Corp.

‘They think something is wrong with me but it’s all good. It will be the same this week.’

Panthers forward Liam Martin said he would be ‘dying in five minutes’ if he had the same meal before a match and his other teammates have previously joked about him having the ‘worst diet in the NRL’.

‘I don’t know how he is a professional athlete,’ Martin added.

‘If he’s ever worried we’re on an away trip where there will be no Coke Zeros, he brings his own.’

Halfback Nathan Cleary is also dumbfounded by how his mate can still perform at incredibly high level despite what he puts into his body.

‘His diet is the most unique I’ve seen for a rugby league player,’ Cleary said.

‘I’ve never seen somebody have four cans of Coke and 10 hash browns on gameday for breakfast.

‘He manages to do it and is still a beast on the field, so props to him.’

To’o’s teammate Jarome Luai once floated the theory that the winger’s unusual diet was a secret to his success.

‘He is a bit of a different breed and has come back from injury a few times, pretty bad ones too,’ Luai said.

‘It is probably what he eats. It’s the worst diet in NRL history, but it is working for him. Chicken and cheese … full stop. I can’t give any more away.’

To’o is sure to be one of the keys to victory for Penrith after producing yet another dazzling year for both his club and the NSW Origin side.

He has been one of the team’s standouts in their run of three straight grand final victories and is sure to be targeted by the Storm at Accor Stadium.
