Diddy’s feud with 50 Cent explained – as rapper cashes in on jailed mogul’s downfall

Rapper 50 Cent has made no secret of how much he dislikes Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs over the years.

Now, in the midst of Diddy’s monumental downfall as he’s charged with a host of sex trafficking and racketeering offenses, 50 Cent has capitalized on their public feud by revealing he’s working on a Netflix docuseries which promises to tell all.

‘This is a story with significant human impact,’ he told PEOPLE. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far.’

The duo first met in the ’90s, as up-and-coming hip hop artists. They ran in the same circles, but 50 Cent never considered Diddy a friend.

He said he never ‘partied or hang out with him’ and that their relationship was strictly business.

By 2006, any pretense of even a working relationship was crushed when 50 Cent released his diss track, The Bomb.

In it, he accuses Diddy of being involved in the 1997 murder of fellow artist Biggie Smalls.

‘Who shot Biggie Smalls? We don’t get ’em / They gonna kill us all … Man, Puffy know who hit that n****,’ he sings.

Diddy has been plagued by rumors he knows more about the deaths of both Biggie and Tupac. He denies any involvement.

Then, in both 2018 and 2024, 50 Cent claimed he’d felt a ‘little uncomfortable’ about the rapper for a long time.

He recalled a time early in their careers when Diddy ‘asked to take me shopping.’

‘I thought that was the weirdest s**t in the world because that might be something that a man says to a woman,’ he said.

‘I’m not f***ing with this weird energy or weird s**t… the way he was just moving. From that, I wasn’t comfortable around him.’

Diddy was hit with an indictment accusing him of years of coercion and abuse while using blackmail and violence to control his victims.

He has also been accused of inducing female victims and male sex workers into drugged-up, sometimes days-long sexual performances referred to as ‘Freak Offs.’

Since the salacious charges were brought, old photographs have resurfaced which highlight the sheer pull Diddy had on the industry, and all the famous faces who attended his parties.

50 Cent insists he was never one of them.

‘I’ve been very vocal about not going to Puffy parties,’ he said. ‘It’s just an uncomfortable energy connected to it.’

‘It’s not uncomfortable for me to say what I said because I’ve been saying this s**t for four years, five years. I been telling you, I don’t f**k with him. I don’t like the way he moving. This is a little crazy.’

Diddy’s legal woes began in November 2023, when his ex girlfriend Cassie accused him of raping and assaulting her.

Shortly afterward, CCTV footage in which Combs was seen violently beating and kicking Cassie was made public.

The pair settled a lawsuit, but 50 Cent said it was telling that Diddy had ‘denied’ allegations of wrongdoing prior to the video.

‘Everything that n**** says is a lie,’ he told The Hollywood Reporter.

The duo have also both invested in competing vodka brands over the years, placing them at odds with each other.

Diddy’s Los Angeles and Miami homes were both raided in March 2024, months before he was ultimately arrested and charged.

Combs pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and was denied bail, despite his legal team’s request for him to be released for $50 million and kept electronically monitored.

The artist is accused of using ‘power and prestige’ to lure and intimidate women under the ‘pretense of a romantic relationship.’

Prosecutors said they had interviewed more than 120 victims and witnesses, some of whom were as young as nine when the alleged misconduct occurred.
