The Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers got into a brawl in the end zone near the end of the fourth quarter of their NFL matchup, with the result well in hand and frustrations showing.
After Chicago’s Roschon Johnson ran it across the goal line for a score more akin to a rugby scrum, the pushing and shoving did not stop after the play’s conclusion.
Carolina’s Jaycee Horn and Chicago’s Bill Murray started the mass confrontation while not keeping their hands off each other well after Johnson got into the end zone, with teammates of both men quickly jumping in.
Multiple officials throw flags and run in to separate players soon after more of the Bears offensive lineman surrounded Horn.
The Panthers defenders crashed in on the Chicago’ players, including DJ Johsnon, who sent Matt Pryor to the turf with a violent shove.
A fight broke out near the end of Panthers-Bears with several members of each team involved
Both Horn and Pryor were ejected from the game after the altercation as the main instigators
Both Horn and Pryor were ejected from the game after cooler heads prevailed after the altercation.
Johnson’s touchdown brought the game to its final score of 36-10.
The Panthers fell to 1-4 with the loss, looking like another disappointing season is looming.
Chicago improved to 3-2 overall, with all three victories coming at Solider Field.
It is unlikely Horn or Pryor will face any supplemental discipline from the brawl beyond a fine.
However, both the Panthers and Bears could also be in line for a fine from the league for the mass confrontation.
