Australian Idol auditions have kicked off in Sydney for season 10, but judge Kyle Sandilands says there is one glaring issue with the next batch of contestants.
The radio star, 53, revealed on Sunday that those who audition are either charismatic but ‘horrible singers’ or fantastic singers who are ‘horrible at everything else’.
He said Sydney performers have so far been 50/50, with the media personality admitting he’s struggled to find someone ‘who’s got it all’, reported Confidential.
‘The tough part is some people come in and look like stars and engage with us and we think wow this person really has a spark, but they’re horrible singers,’ he said.
‘Then the great singers are horrible at everything else.
‘You really do need to find the magical ingredient, someone who’s got it all. The whole package—the voice, the attitude, everything.’
It comes as the Australian Idol reboot returned to screens last year as a massive success after a 14-year hiatus.
This year, the Grand Finale saw a record public vote crown Dylan Wright from NSW as the winner, beating out Amy Reeves from WA and Denvah Baker-Moller from QLD.

The Bangalow-native was lost for words by the life-changing decision.
‘Thank you. I don’t know. I’m about to cry! So, thanks!’ he told the studio audience and judges Kyle, Marcia Hines and Amy Shark—who will return next season.
Dylan walked away with a $100,000 cash prize and a recording contract with Sony Music Australia, following the record public vote.

He then performed his winner’s single, Paper Heart, to rapturous applause.
Prior to the announcement, judge Kyle said that both Dylan and Amy would have bright futures.
‘As judges, what we want is to deliver up the best that we have found,’ Kyle said.
‘Both of these two I would be pleased to manage, to sign. They both have amazing records. Couldn’t be happier. They are both just fantastic.’
