REVEALED: Staggering payout Robert Saleh will bank after being fired by New York Jets

Robert Saleh may have been sent packing by the New York Jets Tuesday but the former head coach won’t have to worry about funds for the next two years.

Just days on from Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London – where he controversially wore a Lebanon flag on the sidelines – Saleh was relieved of his duties in New York.

The dismissal came just five games into his fourth season with the franchise, which had already seen the franchise ensure misery, having slipped to 2-3 after Sunday’s loss.

Saleh signed a five-year contract with the Jets when he took charge of the floundering franchise in 2021, and thanks to that deal, the coach is set for a juicy paycheck for the next two years, according to reports.

The deal he inked upon his arrival in the Big Apple is thought to be worth around $5-7million a year, according to reports.

That could mean that the beleaguered coach is set to bank a payout that could be worth as much as almost 19,178.08 a day from the Jets.

The figure breaks down to as much as $583,333.33 per month or $134,615.38 a week, which works out at a stunning $799.09 per hour and $13.32 dollars per minute.

It’s a staggering amount for a man who departs with a dismal 20-36 record after failing to make the playoffs in each of his three full seasons.

But Saleh will continue to provide for his family as he shares seven children – sons Adam, Zane, Michael, Sam and Jacob, and daughters Mila and Ella – with wife Sanaa.

The Lebanese-American, who became the NFL’s first ever Muslim-American head coach when he joined the Jets, is set to be replaced by internal defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, who was announced as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

His firing on Tuesday marks the very first time Johnson has dropped the axe on a head coach in the middle of a season in his 25 years as owner. The last head coach the Jets had to replace mid-season was Lou Holtz back in 1976.

There were high hopes for the Jets in the 2024 season with Rodgers back to full fitness, following the nightmare Achilles injury he suffered four snaps into his debut last term.

Yet even with the four-time MVP available, they have struggled for form in the first five games of the campaign, including in a disastrous 10-9 home loss to the Broncos.

And while Sunday’s shortcoming against the 5-0 Vikings was by no means as humiliating, Johnson has ultimately decided Saleh is not the right man to take his team forward.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz , his dismissal as head coach has taken New York players by surprise, particularly those on the defense.

Saleh is understood to have arrived at the team’s practice facility for business as usual before he was informed of the shock decision taken by Jets owners.
