Ali Wong has opened up about her ‘unconventional’ relationship with ex-husband Justin Hakuta amid her current romance with Bill Hader.
The comedian, 42, split with ‘best friend’ Hakuta in 2022 after eight years of marriage, but has maintained both a personal and professional relationship with the entrepreneur.
In fact, Hakuta recently worked as Wong’s tour manager, creating some crossover with Hader, who would occasionally join the Beef star’s sets.
Speaking to InStyle magazine, Wong said: ‘I understand that some people really need to cut the cord, but that never worked for me.’
She added: ‘Divorces are like snowflakes. There’s truly no two alike.’

In her December 22 divorce filing, Wong cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the split.
Their date of separation was listed as April 10, 2022, which was days before they publicly announced their split.
The documents also revealed that Wong and Hakuta were in mediation to establish spousal support and sorting their assets.
It was reported at the time that the two wanted to settle their issues themselves.
The pair met at a friend’s wedding reception in 2010 and married in San Francisco in 2014.
In her 2016 Baby Cobra special on Netflix, Wong explained that when she learned Justin was a Harvard student and Fulbright scholar, she played hard to get.
‘I was like, “Oh, my God, I’m gonna trap his a**. Going to trap his a**!” And I trapped his a** initially by not kissing him until the fifth date, which is a very unusual move on my part. But I did it on purpose, because I knew that he was a catch,’ she said to a live audience.

In her book, Dear Girls: Intimate Tales Untold Secrets and Advice for Living Your Best Life, Wong credited the prenup she signed before walking down the aisle as one of the secrets to her success.
‘My father always praised “the gift of fear,”‘ she explained. ‘And that prenup scared the s*** out of me.
‘In the end, being forced to sign that prenup was one of the greatest things that ever happened to me and my career.’
In February 2022 Wong referred to her marriage as ‘monogamy jail’ in her Don Wong comedy special on Netflix.
Shortly after her separation, Wong dated actor Bill Hader for a couple of months. The former Saturday Night Live cast member had recently ended his relationship with Anna Kendrick.
Wong and Hader reportedly split not long after, but rekindled their romance when they were seen kissing while hiking in LA in April 2023.
Two days prior to the sighting, a rep for Hader confirmed to Page Six that he and Wong were back together.
