Those in Florida have reported similar issues on social media, hours after Hurricane Milton knocked out power for nearly three million people.

Verizon told DailyMail.com that those experiencing issues in the Midwest had service restored by 3:30pm ET.

More than 1,500 users  issued reports to Downdetector, with 64 percent citing problems with mobile phone, followed by home internet and mobile internet.

Others flocked to social media to see if Verizon is truly down, specifically those stranded in Florida following the Category 3 storm.

‘Hearing from friends that Verizon cell service seems to be down in Sarasota area. So if you’re trying to get ahold of some one, have a little patience. They may not have any telecoms for now,’ a user shared on X.

One woman pleaded with Elon Musk to send SpaceX’s Starlink satellites into the area.

‘Elon Musk, my husband is a first responder in Charlotte county Fl. Their Verizon network isn’t working , complicating things, as the inspectors are trying to asses damages and report back to emergency operations center. Any way they can [access] starlink,’ she wrote.

‘Power lines & trees down, debris all over, and streets flooded. Many will try to come back to unsafe conditions. Millions fled the area!’

While some attributed Verizon outage to the storm, one X user noted on the site that ‘AT&T is working.’
