Paula Abdul gives update on serious health issues that forced her to cancel first tour in years

Nineties pop icon Paula Abdul is ‘recovering well’ after a series of injuries.

The injuries were so bad they forced her to cancel her highly anticipated tour.

The 62-year-old pop star was due to kick off her Straight Up! To Canada tour in late September. But she pulled the plug just weeks beforehand because she needed to undergo surgery and now just has one more to go.

‘I’m recovering well. I have already had one procedure done,’ she told UsWeekly.

‘I have one more to go, but I’m guaranteed eight weeks I’ll be Humpty Dumpty back together again.’

But the Opposites Attract hitmaker – who returned to touring in 2018 after almost 30 years away – is sure that she will be back on the road when she is able.

That’s because she is keen to see the rest of the world and perform for her fans around the globe.

She said: ‘I had the best time just coming off this tour and there’s still the rest of the world to see and to be able to perform in front of.’

Abdul looked in great shape in a black mini dress, stocking and platform heels on Wednesday at the 10th Annual Gala of The Stars awards at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

The 21-date tour was scheduled to begin on September 25 in Victoria, British Columbia and wrap on October 26 in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Just weeks ago, the former American Idol judge took to social media to apologize to her fans that her tour had to be cancelled.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘It’s with an incredibly heavy heart that I need to share with you an update regarding some injuries I’ve recently sustained.

‘In an effort to keep going, I’ve received targeted injections that will allow me temporary relief, but the demands of an entire tour is a different story.

‘After multiple consultations with my doctors and exploring all available options, I’ve been advised that one of my injuries requires a minor procedure followed by a 6-8 week recovery time.

‘Therefore it will prohibit me from proceeding with the Straight Up! To Canada Tour as well as the dates in Alaska and North Dakota. ‘

Abdul’s tour cancelation comes after she concluded a grueling stint as opening act for New Kids on the Block’s The Magic Summer 2024 Tour in North America.

She joined the beloved 90s boy band — featuring Donnie Wahlberg, Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Danny Wood and Joey McIntyre — for a whopping 42 concerts with DJ Jazzy Jeff.

The tour marked NKOTB’s first in a decade and was in support of their eighth studio album, Still Kids, which they released in May.
