A woman who is fighting for her life after she was mauled by three dogs had reportedly been attacked by one of the pets just days earlier, as it emerges authorities are prosecuting one of the owners.
Jordan Garrett was savaged by the animals at property on Ross Street in Dandenong, Melbourne’s southeast, shortly before 10am on Thursday.
Police attempted to break up the attack by using capsicum spray but the dogs continued mauling Ms Garrett, who is aged in her 20s, and had to be shot dead.
It is believed they were two two American bulldogs and a pit bull.
She remains in a critical condition at the Dandenong Hospital and police are investigating.
It has now emerged that Ms Garrett had been attacked by one of the animals earlier in the week, according to a neighbour who said the dogs had been a concern for a while.
‘I was home sick from work, and I heard screaming and smashing,’ the neighbour told The Age.
‘Then police came, and the shooting began.’
It comes as shocking CCTV footage has emerged of an attack allegedly involving one of the animals in July.

The footage, published by the newspaper, shows a large white and brown dog mauling a much smaller Shiba Inu, which squeals and screams in pain.
The Shiba Inu’s owner yells out and falls to the floor during the attack before a male bystander runs over and starts kicking and punching the larger dog in an attempt to get it to stop.
The man shouts ‘let go’ and ‘no stop’ repeatedly as he tries to prise the dog away.
The Greater Dandenong City Council said it had received multiple complaints about the dogs at the property and was prosecuting a resident at the house, who is not the victim, over the July attack.
The matter is due to go to court in November.
After Thursday’s incident a shirtless man was arrested at the property but Victoria Police told Daily Mail Australia the arrest was unrelated to the dog attack. No further information was available.

A neighbour who lives on the same street said there were five dogs in total at the government housing property.
It’s understood Ms Garrett lives at the home with several others.
‘I was just walking home and there was lots of yelling and screaming,’ the neighbour previously told Daily Mail Australia.
‘Then police came and you just heard gunshots. I saw the lady getting put into the ambulance and she was in a very bad way.’
The neighbour said Ms Garrett appeared to be unconscious.

He claimed the remaining dogs at the property are aggressive and added he often felt nervous walking his own dog past the house.
Photos captured by Seven News appear to show the bodies of the three dogs who were killed in the backyard.
The breeds of the dogs are believed to be two American bulldogs and a pit bull, Nine News reported.
Investigations continue and police remain at the scene.
