Taxi driver is charged after allegedly stabbing a young man in the face in Paddington in Sydney’s eastern suburbs

A taxi driver who allegedly stabbed a young man in the face in Sydney’s eastern suburbs has been charged over the incident.  

Emergency services were called to Boundary Street, Paddington, just after 10pm on Friday following reports a 22-year-old man had been stabbed.

A 71-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to Waverley Police Station where police said he was assisting with their inquiries. 

The taxi driver has now been charged with reckless wounding. 

He has been refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court on Saturday. 

The 22-year-old man was taken to hospital to be treated for a stab wound to his face. 

He was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

‘On arrival, officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were told an altercation occurred before the passenger of a taxi was allegedly stabbed by the driver,’ NSW Police said in a statement on Friday.

‘A crime scene has been established and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
