Shirtless man is arrested after allegedly stealing a Toyota sedan and taking police on a wild 45-minute car chase

A man claiming to be an NRL star’s brother has been arrested after allegedly stealing a car and taking police on a wild 45-minute chase through Sydney’s west.

Jamie Twal, 30, allegedly pointed a gun at a 55-year-old man before getting into the back of his white Toyota sedan on Hilltop Road, in Merrylands just after 6pm on Friday.

Twal allegedly demanded the man behind the wheel drive to Villawood.

The driver, out of fear for his own safety, got out of the car and left it to Twal in Parramatta, with Twal then allegedly taking off in the sedan and smashing into multiple other vehicles.

The sedan was found abandoned shortly after on Boronia Street, Ermington with PolAir tracking Twal down to a house just around the corner at about 7pm.

He was seen sitting on the gutter in handcuffs, and without a shirt on, before he was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.

Twal was later taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with steal motor vehicle, larceny value less than or equal to $2,000, not give particulars to other driver, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period and use offensive weapon with intention to commit indictable offence.

He faced court on Saturday where it was heard he’d served time for robbery offences, The Daily Telegraph reported.
