Triple M radio legend announces shock departure from network after 16 years

Gus Worland has announced that he will be leaving Triple M at the end of the year after a 16-year run.

Worland, 55, who first gained popularity as part of Triple M’s iconic Grill Team, has most recently hosted The Rush Hour on 104.9 Triple M Sydney.

After nearly eight years working with his mental fitness charity Gotcha4Life, Worland has decided to leave radio and focus on his mental health advocacy full-time.

Worland’s final show on Triple M will air at the end of the year, and it is not yet known who will replace him on the network.

Known for his mix of humour and heartfelt connection with listeners, the announcement from the longtime radio host has come as a shock to fans.

In a statement on Monday, Worland – who is a longtime friend of Hugh Jackman – thanked his colleagues and behind-the-scenes staff as he confirmed his exit.

‘From my early days with Matty Johns, Mark Geyer, and Chris Page, to my current team with Jude Bolton and Aaron Woods, I’ve been lucky to work with some amazing people,’ he said.

‘I’m especially grateful to the team who’ve worked tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the shows going.’
