Under-fire New York Mayor Eric Adams sparks furious meltdown over MLB cap

With the looming potential for New York’s first true Subway Series since 2000, embattled mayor Eric Adams is apparently covering his bases.

The 64-year-old Democrat marched in the 80th Columbus Day Parade on Monday wearing a dark baseball hat bearing both the Yankees and Mets’ logos.

Unfortunately for Adams, who was indicted last month on bribery, campaign finance, and conspiracy charges, the pandering did not appear to sit well with his constituents.

‘He should be indicted just for this,’ one Yankee fan wrote online.

‘You would think that this is not even something that should exist for sale, and yet…,’ another fan wrote, sharing a link to similar items online.

Currently the Mets trail the Los Angeles Dodgers 1-0 in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series after Sunday’s 9-0 Game 1 defeat. New York’s Sean Manaea will start Game 2 against Dodgers reliever Ryan Brasier as LA manager Dave Roberts plans to stick with the bullpen for Monday’s matinee.

Meanwhile, the Yankees’ Carlos Rodon is on the hill in the Bronx against Cleveland’s Alex Cobb in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series on Monday night.

Adams’ gaffe is similar to one made by Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff, who was caught wearing both San Francisco Giants and Dodgers hats in an online birthday tribute to the Vice President.

Only unlike the Yankees and Mets, who typically only square off during interleague play, the Dodgers and Giants have been fierce rivals dating back to their time in New York, when they played in Brooklyn and Manhattan, respectively.

‘This is f***ed up,’ a user replied, while another said: ‘This would decide my vote tbh.’

Adams has denied the corruption charges and has steadfastly refused to step down amid the ongoing scandal.

The news isn’t much better for the Mets, who learned that outfielder Brandon Nimmo is dealing with painful plantar fasciitis, as he told The Athletic.

The condition has bothered him since May, and although it continues to bother him, he doesn’t expect to sit during the ongoing NLCS.

‘I think when I really need it, I’m probably not 100 percent, but I can get going pretty good,’ Nimmo said. ‘But it’s uncomfortable.

‘It’s the NLCS,’ he added. ‘You do whatever you can in order to get out there and help in any way you can.’

The 31-year-old had a down year, batting just .224. However, in 151 games, he hit 23 homers and added 90 RBIs and 15 stolen bases — both career highs.
