Laneway 2025 confirms surprise act to join stellar line-up as fans scramble for presale tickets

Presale tickets for Laneway 2025 launched on Tuesday and American pop star Djo was confirmed as part of the line-up.

Also known as actor Joe Keery from Stranger Things, the 32-year-old performer is a surprise addition to the music event since early posters did not feature Djo at all.

Eagle-eyed fans picked up a clue teasing that the actor and musician might be included on the bill for the music event, which kicks off a national tour in February.

Pictures of tiny ‘aliens’ featured alongside stars including Charlie XCX, Clairo, Beabadoobee and Barry Can’t Swim when Laneway dropped posters advertising the festival last week.

Fans speculated that Keery’s Djo side project would be part of Laneway when a voice note was posted to Instagram on Monday.

‘Hey, it looks like you have one extra slot. Any way I can get in on that?’ said the voice.

‘That’s Djo I know that voice,’ gushed one fan.

Keery later took to his own Instagram to confirm the news.

‘Will be coming Down Under for Laneway in February!’ Keery said in his post.

‘Got my fingers crossed for some sideshows too,’ he said.

Laneway will be the first time Keery has brought his psychedelic pop act to Australia.

Launched in 2019, Djo had a massive hit with the single End of Beginning earlier this year.

It comes after organisers confirmed Charli XCX would headline the 2025 event.

Charli was last Down Under in 2023 for Sydney WorldPride and her Laneway shows will be the only chance for Aussie fans to see the Boom Clap hitmaker in person this time around.

Joining Charli XCX is American singer-songwriter Clairo, whose hits Sofia and Sexy to Someone have brought her more than 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

UK singer Beabadoobee has also been added to the bill.

Djo, Bicep, Remi Wolf, Olivia Dean, Eyedress, Skeggs, Stum, Rona, Hamdi, Joey Valence & Brae, 2Hollis, Fcukers, Ninajirachi, Julie and Girl Girl fill out the rest of the line-up.

Organisers previously revealed the festival would kick off in New Zealand on February 6, before heading to Brisbane Showgrounds on February 8, Sydney’s Centennial Park on February 9, Flemington Park in Melbourne on February 14, Bonython Park in Adelaide on February 15 and Wellington Square in Perth on February 16.

The festival will welcome audiences aged 16 years and over at all events, with tickets beginning at $189.90 for the pre-sale on October 15 (plus fees).

The second release will cost punters $204.90, while the third and fourth will cost a respective $219.90 and $229.90.

VIP tickets will also be available for $289.90.

The music festival announced its dates, locations and prices last Wednesday, after posting several slime green billboards emerged in laneways.

The advertisements displayed one word of text in the now-iconic Arial black font: laneway.
